Governors
At Ysgol Y Gogarth, we are fortunate to have a dedicated team of governors who play a vital role in the management and oversight of the school. Our governors are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school, ensuring financial accountability, and monitoring the school's performance. They work closely with the headteacher and senior leadership team to ensure that the school is providing a high-quality education to its students. Our governors bring a wealth of experience and expertise from a range of backgrounds, and they are committed to ensuring that our school continues to thrive and provide the best possible education for our students.

I was born in Kingston upon Hull in 1935 and moved to Manchester in the mid-fifties. My daughter Lorraine was born with Spina Bifida and when she was 3 1/2 years old I went to work at the Royal School for the Deaf at Handforth, Cheshire. I stayed there for 2 years as a Residential Child Care Officer with the responsibility for 40 deaf teenage girls.
When Lorraine was old enough to be a resident at Bethesda Special School in Cheadle, Cheshire, I went to work there, again as a Residential Child Care Officer. I stayed there until Lorraine was old enough to cope on her own, and then went back into business. My background is Advertising/Finance. I retired in 1985 and came to live in Llandudno. In 2005 I was asked to be a Community Governor of Ysgol y Gogarth, and have been a governor to this day. I enjoy it very much, and hope that my personal input is of some

I moved to North Wales in 1977 from Failsworth near Manchester. I have two children and three grandchildren, one of whom attends Ysgol Gogarth. In 1991 I attended Bangor University and obtained an Honours Degree in Botany. I then went on to Bangor Normal to complete a P.G.C.E to become a classroom teacher. For four years I taught in many schools in the area, including Ysgol Y Graig and Ysgol Gogarth and then in 1999 I started at a school in Rhyl and stayed there until I retired in 2017. I now own the cafe on the A55 in LLandulas where I work with my grandson.
I have been involved in the voluntary sector in the Girl Guides all my life, from being a Brownie myself, then a Guide and Ranger Guide. When my daughter was two I went back into the movement as a Brownie Guider and Guide Guider. I have held appointments as Outdoor Adviser, Pack Holiday Adviser, District, Division and Caernarfonshire County Commissioner in the county, as well as the Pack Holiday Adviser for Wales. I feel all my previous experiences in Guiding, teaching and presently with Creatasmile will enhance and my role as a Community Governor in this truly wonderful school.

I am proud to have been part of Gogarth School for the past three years, currently serving as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant. Prior to joining the school, I worked for a healthcare company, where I provided dedicated care to a child at Alder Hey Hospital, gaining extensive training and developing a strong foundation in child-centered care. My connection to Gogarth is also deeply personal, as my sister, who has cerebral palsy, attends the school. Serving as a governor allows me to advocate passionately for students, staff, and families, drawing on both my professional experience and my personal commitment to helping every child reach their fullest potential.

I was born and bred in North Wales. I went to Staffordshire University to Study Business and financial Economics and worked in Finance Roles for 10 years. I have two children. Since having children I knew I wanted to work in education, so I did a Teaching Assistant Qualification and came to work at Ysgol Y Gogarth as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. I have since qualified as a Teacher and am very proud of my role as a Teacher Governor.
My family and I enjoy Mountain Walking and Running.

David Hartley
I have been a teacher at Gogarth for 3 years where I started as cover supply. During my time here, I have worked in every class and have a very good understanding of the school's needs across many different areas. I currently teach secondary aged pupils preparing them with the skills they will need when they move on from Gogarth. This has included many opportunities to develop their life skills and spending time out of school in the community. I am a great outdoor enthusiast and as such have taken my class on regular trips in the North Wales countryside. My hobbies include scuba diving and hiking and as such I am a big advocate of outdoor learning. I believe that this combined with a school based curriculum can vastly enhance the pupils of Ysgol Gogarth’s learning experience.

Non Lederle
My name is Non, I am originally from South Wales, but spent many a happy holiday staying with my Nain on the Llyn Peninsula so have spent all my life travelling from North to South in school holidays! I live with my husband Carl, and we have three gorgeous boys, Josef, Luc, Osian and Millie our cockapoo. Two of my boys attend mainstream schools and Luc is in Gogarth.
My career started with creating holiday tours and writing brochure copy. As it became evident Luc required more support I became a childminder to remain at home with the children. Following on from here I retrained again and completed a PGCE to qualify as a travel and tourism lecturer then started to train up childminders. I contracted sepsis just before completing the PGCE year but managed to obtain the qualification. This caused another change of direction, this time to Conwy Connect where I began as their Moving on Solutions (activity officer), this adapted into activities and events and I became the Deputy Chief Officer there in November 2019. Within my work role I assist with the Makaton choir and am currently re doing all Makaton levels and hoping to become a Makaton tutor.
I am so pleased that we live here as Gogarth is truly the best school my son could attend. It is a pleasure to be accepted as a Parent Governor for Gogarth and I am happy to help and support the school and staff however needed.

I was raised in Manchester and moved to North Wales in 2009.
I have become a Parent Governor in Ysgol y Gogarth as I feel I can represent many of our parents as I have a daughter who attends the school and another daughter who is currently a Teaching Assistant.
I have been an active member of the PSFA for many years and I know how daunting it is to be a new parent to the school and would like to say I am here to offer support to anyone who needs it, in anyway I can.

Caroline Dawson
I taught A level Law for over 20 years in 6th Form colleges in Warrington and Altrincham. My role as Curriculum Manager provided me with a good insight into the ever-changing education system. I was an active member of Trafford Parent Forum and was elected parent representative for the Trafford ECHP pathway. In this capacity I attended meetings and liaised with other parents and professionals to help ensure the parents' voice was heard. My daughters Millie and Lottie joined Ysgol y Gogarth in September 2019. From day one we felt part of the Ysgol y Gogarth community and I hope my work and parental experience will enable me to give something back to the school; its parents and the wonderful children who attend.
