From January 23rd to 29th, 2025, a group of pupils participated in an incredible Taith Project to Finland. The week was filled with exciting outdoor activities, cultural experiences, and unforgettable moments.

Thursday 23rd - Arrival in Finland The journey began with a flight to Finland, where the group was warmly welcomed at the Adventure Apes Lodge. After settling in, they enjoyed a hearty dinner and met the group leaders.

Friday 24th - Teamwork and Igloo Building The adventure truly kicked off as the pupils worked together to build an igloo, developing teamwork and resilience in the chilly conditions. In the evening, they relaxed in the traditional Kota, sipping warm berry juice by the fire, sharing stories, and reflecting on the day’s achievements.

Saturday 25th - Ice Fishing and Igloo Construction A morning trek led the pupils to a frozen lake, where they tried their hands at ice fishing. The afternoon was spent refining their igloo, digging out the inside to create a more structured shelter.

Sunday 26th - Snowshoeing and Sauna A highlight of the trip was the snowshoeing expedition up a mountain, offering a stunning panoramic view of the lake and the town of Kuusamo. The day ended with a relaxing and traditional Finnish sauna, a perfect way to unwind after an active day.

Monday 27th - Skiing, Swimming, and an American Diner A visit to the main town brought a day packed with excitement. The pupils hit the slopes for skiing before enjoying lunch by the ski resort. The afternoon was spent at a spa, where they swam and rode water slides. To top off the day, the group dined at an American-themed restaurant, a fun contrast to the traditional Finnish experiences.

Tuesday 28th - College Visit, Ice Carving, and Reindeer Farm The group visited a Finnish college, where they met local students and were given a tour of the facilities. They had lunch at the college before trying their hands at ice carving. The afternoon brought even more excitement with sledging, followed by a visit to a reindeer farm. Feeding the reindeer and experiencing a reindeer sleigh ride were unforgettable highlights.

Wednesday 29th - Cross-Country Skiing Finale On the final day, the pupils enjoyed cross-country skiing on a frozen lake, embracing one last adventure before their departure. It was a perfect way to round off an incredible trip.

The Taith Journey to Finland was an extraordinary experience, offering pupils the chance to develop new skills, embrace Finnish culture, and create lasting memories. The week was filled with teamwork, adventure, and plenty of fun—an experience they will cherish forever.
